Obituary for Dorothy Virginia “Dottie” Utz
 
Dorothy Virginia “Dottie” Utz, 90, died Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Westminster.
 
Dottie was born in Smallwood on August 24, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Frank Frederick and Virginia Angela Stultz Magin. She was the wife of the late Arlin Samuel Utz, her husband of 62 years. 
 
Dottie graduated from Westminster High School class of 1946 and attended college at Towson State University. She was serving as the Chief Judge of the Orphans Court/Probate for Carroll County for over 20 years. Dottie was the first elected female judge of the Carroll County Orphans Court, and proudly worked this position until her death. Prior to her elected service, Dottie was retired from Quality Cleaners (Admiral Cleaners) in Westminster.
 
She was a member of the Orphans Court Judges Association, Gettysburg Region of AACA, Carroll County Historical Society and Carroll County Republican Club. She was also a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Westminster serving as a choir member. 
 
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Dwight and Debbye Utz of York, PA, and Kevin and Terri Utz of Westminster; grandchildren Andy, Nathan, Brad, Jenni and Julie; great-grandchildren Tyler, Austin, Max, Ethan, Sam, Cheyenne, Zachary and Brooke. 
 
She was preceded in death by her sister Helen and brothers Kenneth, Norman and Donald. 
 
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Clementson officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens immediately after the service.
