George Anthony Prager

We regret to inform you that George A. Prager passed away on December 21, 2021 at the age of 53. The Maryland Troopers Association sends it’s deepest condolences to the Prager Family during this difficult time.

George Anthony Prager, 53, of Hanover, Pennsylvania, passed away into the arms of The Lord on Tuesday, December 21st, 2021. Born on March 8th, 1968, in Westminster, Maryland to the late George Prager and Vonnie Colson Freed. He was the beloved husband of Vicki Michelle Prager for 34 years.

George was a detective in the Maryland State Police and then with the Federal Marshall’s office serving for over 30 years as a dedicated defender of the people. He brought joy and laughter into any situation, unless you were the one getting pranked or shocked by his great sense of humor. He loved traveling with his wife, spoiling her and the grandkids, and making his children laugh. He was also a respected member of Manchester and Hampstead Baptist churches for over 20 years. “The Lord is for me so I am not afraid what can mortals do to me now? It is better to put your trust in the Lord than to put confidence in people.” Psalm 118:6, 8.

He was a father to Amber Ballou, her husband Justin, Kyle Prager, his wife Cassandra, and Kameron Prager. Grandfather to Bryce, Camdyn, Kaedynce, Mia, Rowan, Eithen and Harlow. And brother to Vicki Wheeler, Lisa Hughes, her husband Jason, and Sylvia Cunningham, and husband Duane.

Viewing services will be held on Monday, December 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM for the family to receive visitors in his honor at the ECKHARDT FUNERAL CHAPEL, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester, MD 21102.

A funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Dr. David Scafide on Tuesday, December 28th at 10:30 AM at Manchester Baptist Church, 2933 Manchester Baptist Church Road, Manchester, MD 21102.

A Celebration of Life Memorial for George will take place in the Spring.
