Superintendent’s Message

December 22, 2011

As we approach a new year and each of you moves forward with your 2012 career goals, I feel that it is important to keep you informed of the efforts by your command staff to support your hard work and to address future sustainability and succession planning Department-wide. Historically, promotions and transfers have been a highly anticipated event during the weeks preceding the Christmas Holiday. Recognizing outstanding leadership abilities and supporting the growth of your career through the promotional process is very important to me and to my administration. Your commander’s and I
are working diligently to identify practical staffing strategies during a time where resources are highly prized and public safety and crime fighting are paramount. Prior to the Christmas Holiday, you can expect that yourcommand staff and I will be meeting frequently to further discuss the Department’s plan for filling vacancies in a manner that is practical and prudent. You can also expect that your command staff will again be traveling throughout the State to see the valuable work that you are doing to keep our highways and citizens safe during this holiday period. Please know that your contributions are valued everyday. And, that your command staff and I plan for the
dissemination of a promotion and transfer list after January 1st.

Thank you for all that you do to support the Mission of the Maryland State Police, and I extend to you and your family a safe and healthy holiday season.
