NEW TROOPERS PREPARE TO REPORT FOR DUTY

(SYKESVILLE, MD) – Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown will join Colonel Marcus L. Brown as the keynote speaker for the graduation ceremonies of the 141st Trooper Candidate Class of the Maryland State Police. The class of 22 graduates has made a choice of public service which is vital to the safety and well being of this state.

The trooper candidates have completed six months of training in a residential police academy that demands their very best, at all times. After graduation, each trooper will have to complete eight weeks of additional field training with an experienced trooper before they are able to patrol alone. Families, friends and fellow members of the Maryland State Police will be present at the graduation ceremony.

This class includes four military veterans and three paramedics. Also in this class, there are three new troopers who are following in the footsteps of family members.
