SEVENTY NEW TROOPERS PREPARE FOR DUTY FOLLOWING THE 142ND ACADEMY CLASS GRADUATION
 
 
(Sykesville, MD) –Colonel Marcus L. Brown will preside over the graduation of the 142nd Maryland State Police Academy Class, made up of seventy trooper candidates preparing to report for duty to one of twenty-two barracks statewide. 
 
The 142nd Academy of seventy candidates will graduate nineteen sons, daughters or relatives of police officers. Nine candidates in Class 142 are related to a member of the Maryland State Police. Also graduating in Class 142 are six military veterans and one former Major League Baseball player, who was elected as the class president.
 
The trooper candidates have completed six months of rigorous training in a residential police academy that demands their very best, at all times. After graduation, each trooper will have to complete eight weeks of additional field training with an experienced trooper before they are able to patrol alone. Families, friends and fellow members of the Maryland State Police will be present at the graduation ceremony.
