On 4/14/16, Trooper Ezra Ganeshananda of the Maryland State Police was involved in a serious collision on the Capital Beltway (I-495) in Prince George’s County. Ezra was trapped inside his vehicle and had to be extricated by fire department personnel. He was subsequently flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Ezra is currently in critical condition and has a long road to recovery.

Ezra’s brother is also a Maryland State Trooper. Many of his other family members reside in New Jersey.

While the State of Maryland and his insurance carriers will cover his medical expenses, he and his family will have a multitude of other unreimbursed expenses (travel/lodging while in Baltimore, long-term care of Ezra, etc.)
