We regret to inform you that on Monday, February 10, 2020, Captain (Retired) Wilford “Will” Lawrence, 88, passed away following a brief illness at Season Hospice at Northwest Hospital Center surrounded by the love of his family. The Maryland Troopers Association sends its deepest condolences to the Lawrence family at this difficult time.

Born on April 20, 1931 in Baltimore, MD to the late Wolford W. Lawrence and the late Ida Scholfield, Will served his country in the US Navy from 1951-1955 and later he served with the Maryland State Police in many capacities for nearly 30 years, retiring as a Captain. As a devoted husband, father and grandfather, Will always put his family first. He enjoyed playing golf with his wife, family and friends and loved the Baltimore Orioles, Ravens and Colts. Faithfully he served his church and ministered to friends and others throughout his community for many, many years. He will be dearly missed.

Will is survived by the love of his life, his beloved wife of 69 years, Dorothy Lawrence and his loving sons, Rick Lawrence & his wife Colette and Matt Lawrence & his wife Beth. He also leaves behind his dear grandchildren Zachary Lawrence & his wife Kiersten, BrieAnna Thomas & her husband Luke, Ellissa Lawrence, Dane Lawrence and Tess Lawrence as well as great-grandchildren, Teagan Thomas, Harper Thomas, Quinn Thomas, Brixtyn Thomas and Emery Lawrence. Will is also survived by his brothers, William B. Lawrence, Raymond Welborn and Anthony Welborn and his brother in laws, Lawrence Sparks and Donald Sparks. Will was predeceased by his sister, Joan Hunt.

Family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 5pm to 7pm at the Hubbard Funeral Home, 4107 Wilkens Ave., Baltimore, MD 21229 where a Memorial Service will follow at 7pm with the Rev. Kim Gee officiating.
