On January 8, 2020, the 90 Day Maryland General Assembly convenes in Annapolis. On Tuesday, January 14, 2020, the Maryland Troopers Association, in partnership with the Maryland State Police Alumni Association, will host a Legislative Reception in the Montgomery Delegation Room, 1st Floor, Lowe House Office Building, Annapolis, Maryland. All MTA members are invited and encouraged to attend this reception. The MTA has invited Governor Hogan, Lieutenant Governor Rutherford, every elected Maryland Legislative Delegate and Senator, Superintendent Pallozzi, and the MSP Bureau Chiefs and Command Staff. The Board of Directors monthly Board meeting will be held from 4:00 – 4:30 p.m. and the reception will follow.
This reception is your opportunity to speak directly with your elected officials and to discuss issues involving the MTA and you. As you know, Senate Bill 946, which passed the General Assembly in 2019, is still on hold with the implementation of the lawsuit, Fitch et al, filed in 2018. Several motions have been filed by all parties involved, however, there is no final resolution as of this posting. If this legislation finally goes into effect, all Maryland retirees who are Medicare Part D eligible will have to enroll in Medicare Part D and will no longer have prescription coverage under the State of Maryland. It remains critical that your elected officials hear directly from you on this and other issues.
Please take this opportunity to join us for dinner, socializing and lobbying.
