The 40th Annual MSP Softball Tournament to be held next week, August 5th and 6th at Pinecliff Park in Frederick, MD. Each team will play 2 pool games which will end by 1300. All teams will then play at least one double elimination game prior to the end of day. The championship game is scheduled for 1600 on the 6th with the “IF” game at 1700.
If you do not have a team to play for, STILL COME OUT AND ENJOY THIS GREAT TIME! Teams grill great food during down time and there is pit beef and turkey to purchase as well. The Maryland Troopers Association, who sponsors the majority of the tournament, will have the store “van” there as well to purchase items. Questions can be directed to D/Sgt. Smith at

The format is the same as last year as ALL teams will go into the same double elimination bracket. There is no “gold” or “silver.” The one slight adjustment I made was this. There are always the “favorites to possibly win” the tournament. Those “big 3” were identified as CED, North East, and Southern “A”. Instead of these teams playing weaker teams in the first two games, these 3 teams will be placed in the same bracket and play each other. They will be seeded 1 through 3 for the double elimination portion. Other teams that win their respective bracket will be playing for #4 through #8 through blind draw, etc. If it doesn’t make sense, I’ll explain it later.
