We regret to inform you of the death of Robert L. (Bob) Lankford, Jr., Father of Retired Sgt. Robert Lankford, on March 22, 2017.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Lankford family at this difficult time.  The following obituary information has been reprinted from the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home website. 
 
Robert L. (Bob) Lankford, Jr., 91, of Marion Station, died on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at the Alice Byrd Tawes Nursing Home.
 
Born in Quindocqua, he was the eldest son of the late Robert L. and Anna Waller Lankford. 
 
After graduating from Marion High School he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. In his early years he worked at the former Earl Parson’s store in Marion before his employment with the State of Maryland. In 1986 he retired as Supervisor of Tax Assessments for Somerset County. 
 
Mr. Lankford was a member of the Quindocqua United Methodist Church. He was also the oldest living life member of the Marion Vol. Fire Dept. where he was past Chief.  In 2016 he was inducted into the Firefighters Hall of Fame in recognition of his meritorious service.
 
He is survived by his children, Robin Twilley, Robert L. Lankford, III, and wife Mary, Karen Kitching and husband, Gary, and Kathy Morris and husband Mark. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Joe Twilley and wife Beth, Steve Twilley and wife Angie, Jenni McDorman and husband Charles, Leanne Pruitt and husband Jonathan, Beth Lednum and husband Lee, Ray Johns and wife, Liz, Curtis Johns and wife Maddie, and Bobby Harris, and thirteen great-grandchildren, Reston, Nathan, and Nora Twilley, Maddie and Marli McDorman, Jillian and Abigail Pruitt, Lexie, Laney, and Lizzie Lednum, and Camden, Curtis, Jr., and Cheyenne Johns, along with several nieces and nephews. 
 
Along with his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Cathryne McGrath Lankford, an infant son, Warren Lee Lankford, son-in-law, J. Howard Twilley, a brother, William Gerald (Jerry) Lankford and an infant sister, Mary Frances Lankford.
 
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at 2 PM at the Bradshaw & Sons Funeral Home, 306 W. Main St., Crisfield, Maryland 21817  where friends may call one hour prior to the service.  Rev. Chuck Jacobson will officiate and interment with military honors will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Marion.
