Winter Springs, FL- Daniel J. Kerr, Sr., 86, or Winter Springs, Fla, formerly of Cumberland, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2014. Born February 14, 1928 in Bronx, NY, he was the son of Joseph E. Kerr and Anna (Donnelly) Kerr. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Lula (Twigg) Kerr, son Richard S. Kerr, daughter Donna Beem and sister Joan Mcelfish.
Mr. Kerr was a retired Maryland State Trooper assigned to the Cumberland Barrack. He enjoyed serving the community and loved helping people when they needed it most. His family always came first, especially his wife, Lula. Everyone was always welcome at their home. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and friend.
He is survived by his son Daniel Kerr Jr., seven grandchildren: Jenny Terrill, John Beem Jr., Beth Klienhenz, Dan Kerr, Richella Swindell, Linda Leasure, Richard Kerr and nine great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue (www.scarpellifh.com) on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Paul Dietz officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
