We regret to inform you of the death of retired Sergeant Curtis Dennis on April 18, 2018.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Sgt. Dennis’s family and friends at this difficult time. 

 

The following obituary information has be reprinted from the Holoway Funeral Home, Pocomoke, Maryland.

 

Curtis “Curt” Dennis



Pocomoke City, MD – Curtis Mitchell “Curt” Dennis, 69, of Pocomoke City, died on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Peninsula Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 5, 1949 in Salisbury, MD, he was one of eleven children of the Late Manuel and Eunice Brittingham Dennis.



Following graduation from Pocomoke High School in 1968 Curt entered the Maryland State Police Academy in 1971 and completed police training and became a MSP Trooper for 5 years before pursuing additional training to become a Trooper/ Paramedic in the aviation division. He retired in 1996 as a MSP Sgt. and the head of the Worcester County Narcotics Task Force. He then became the owner/ operator of Dennis Trucking, driving “Big Red” up and down the east coast.



Curt is survived by his wife of 37 years, Bonnie Thompson Dennis; two daughters, Laurie D. Azoolin (David) of Cooper City, FL, Christine D. Price (John) of Crisfield, MD; two sons, William Hickman II (Maggie) and Curtis M. Dennis, Jr. (Becky) all of Pocomoke City; thirteen grandchildren, Liel, Tali, Danit and Amit Azoolin, Emma, Matthew, Ava, and Spencer Price, Katie Chisholm (Lee) and Daniel Hickman, Gavin, Hayley and Aliza Dennis; two great grandchildren, Peyton and Tyson Chisholm; eight brothers and sisters, Carolyn Cheek, Jeanette van der Zee, Susan Riley (Paul), Willis Dennis (Linda), George Dennis (Jinny), Sam Dennis, Billy Dennis (Robin) and David Dennis (Kelly); mother-in-law, Carolyn P. Thompson; sister-in-law Lynn Blevins (Danny) and numerous nieces and nephews.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one grandson, Steven Payne and two brothers, Jimmy and Phillip Dennis. 



A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Holloway Funeral Home in Pocomoke City. Visitations will be held Saturday from 6-8 PM and one hour prior to the service on Sunday. Rev. Bob Boyce will officiate. Burial will be in Dennis Family Cemetery in Willards, MD on Monday, April 23, 2018 at 11 AM.
