We regret to inform you of the death of Retired PCO Barbara Petty, mother of Retired Captain Dale Petty, on March 5, 2015. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Petty family at this difficult time. The following obituary information has been reprinted from the McComas Funeral Home website.
Barbara Hixene Petty, 79, of Churchville, MD, passed away on March 5, 2015 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. Born in Wawa, PA, she is the daughter of the late Hicks Dale and Hattie Rose Funk Hash. A lifelong resident of Harford County, she had worked for 27 years for the Maryland State Police with most of her career at the Benson Barracks as a Police Communications Officer. She enjoyed camping and traveling to all 50 states.
Mrs. Petty is survived by her husband of 61 years, William Robert Petty; son, Dale Petty and wife, Donna of DeBary, FL; daughters, Joyce A. Petty and husband, Bill Knight of Darlington and Judy L. Cutlip and husband, Pete of Jarrettsville; sister, Jean Smith and husband, Dick of Beverly, WV; grandchildren, Kate Henderson, Jeremiah, Jacob and Janelle Brown, Jessica and Kaitlyn Cutlip; 9 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a great great granddaughter.
Services wil be held at McComas Funeral Home, Abingdon, MD on Tuesday, March 10, 2015. Interment was at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.
Pallbearers will be Dale Petty, Bill Knight, Pete Cutlip, Jeremiah and Jacob Brown and Jason Valis.
