We regret to inform you of the death of Retired Lt. Larry E. Rush on June 10, 2015. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Rush family at this difficult time. The following obituary information has been reprinted from the Hick’s Funeral Home website.
Larry E. Rush
Larry E. Rush, age 79, of Elkton, MD, passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015, at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Rush was born on July 19, 1935, in Loudonville, OH, to the late Norwood B. and Pauline Rush. He attended school in Loudonville, graduating in 1953 from Loudonville High School. After graduation, Mr. Rush enlisted in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. He was stationed at Fort Knox, KY, and later transferred to Aberdeen Proving Ground.
On April 21, 1956, he married his loving wife of 59 years, Jean E. Ryan Rush, formerly of Perryville, MD. In July of 1957 he started his career as a Maryland State Trooper, stationed at the Conowingo Barrack. In the years to follow, he moved up the ranks and was stationed at several different barracks throughout Maryland. Mr. Rush retired from the Maryland State Police in June of 1981 with the rank of First Lieutenant and as barrack commander of the North East Barrack, North East, MD. After a short retirement, he returned to the workforce as a child support enforcement officer in Elkton, MD.
The family of Mr. Rush would like to express their sincere thanks for the exceptional care provided by the compassionate staff of Amedisys Hospice.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rush is preceded in death by his infant son, Robert E. Rush; and infant twin grandson, Brian Wyatt.
In addition to his wife, Jean, survivors include his daughter, Lanita L. Rush (Bob), Elkton, MD; son, Ricky E. Rush (Donna), Chesapeake City, MD; grandchildren, Michael Rush, Robert Rush (Katie), Amanda Arches (Chris), and Brett Wyatt (Cortney); great-grandchildren, Caden and Gracelynn; and sister, Patricia Block, Medina, OH.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 17, 2015, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton Street, Elkton, MD. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 16, at the funeral home. Interment will be Gilpin Manor Memorial Park, Elkton.
