We regret to inform you of the death of Retired Lieutenant George C. Mantz at his home in Delaware on July 30, 2015 following a stroke.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Mantz family at this difficult time.   Below is the obituary published in the Frederick News Post including visitation and service information.
 
Mr. George Charles Mantz, III, 76, of Selbyville, Delaware, formerly of Thurmont, MD, passed away suddenly on July 30th. He was the loving husband of Jeannie Mantz. Born December 22, 1938, in Baltimore, MD to the late George, II and Helen Mantz. Upon graduation from high school, George became a Maryland State Trooper until he was drafted into the Army in 1961. Serving two years as a military policeman he became the first individual to earn the Military Police Association’s Outstanding Graduate Award. The award was given to him for being the top student who promotes the science and art of police administration and crime prevention. Upon his completion of active duty he returned to being a Maryland State Trooper, rising to the rank of First Lieutenant in a career that spanned 27 years. During his spare time he was an avid golfer and enjoyed hunting and fishing. 
 
In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter; Dorothy Ohler and husband, Steve. And son; George Mantz IV and wife, Kristi. Grandchildren; Andrew Ohler, Alaina Chandler, Raechel Mantz, Mackenna Mantz, and George Mantz, V. He also was the oldest of nine children. 
 
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol and daughter, Debra Ann.
 
A visitation will take place from 2:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday, August 5th, at the Chapel Mausoleum of Resthaven Memorial Gardens, 9501 U.S. Route 15N in Frederick, MD. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 6th from 10-11 am where a funeral service will begin at 11 am with Reverend Tim May officiating. Interment will immediately follow in the Garden of Veterans I. In lieu of flowers, contributions are asked to be made to the Maryland State Police Alumni Association. Arrangements are with Resthaven Funeral Services. Skkot Cody, P.A.
