LARRY GENE SMALL, 71, of Hagerstown, Maryland, died Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home.
Born May 17, 1941 in Hanover, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Robert Harner and Margaret Eleanor Criswell Small.He was employed with M. P. Moller for 28 years, then with Food Lion in Smithsburg until retirement. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and volunteered with the Food Bank. In his younger years he enjoyed playing in the Slowpitch Softball League.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jeanne Lawrence Small; a daughter, Donna M. Rishell and husband Daniel of Smithsburg, Md.; a brother, Robert Small and wife Gloria of Hanover, Pa.; two granddaughters, Maggie and Carrie Rishell ; a grandson, Steven Rishell; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Small; two sisters, Ruth Watkins and Eleanor Yingling and a brother, Harold Small.
Funeral service will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown, Md. The Rev. Stanley Steele and Rev. Stephanie Steele will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
