We regret to inform you of the death of Charles E. Overholt, father of Retired First Sergeant Carroll Overholt, on August 23, 2016. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Overholt family at this difficult time. The following obituary information has been reprinted from the Bradshaw and Sons Funeral Home website.
Charles Earl Overholt, 91, of Pocomoke City, MD passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Hartley Hall Nursing Home.
Born in Westover on May 14, 1925, he was a son of the late Howard S. and Mary Grace Cathers Overholt. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Jones Overholt in 1978 and his second wife, Susan Ward Overholt in 2008.
A retired Farmer, Charles was a long-time member of Goodwill Baptist Church in Pocomoke where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, Choir Member, and Sunday School Teacher and currently was also a member of Klej Grange Church in Girdletree. He was involved with Gideon’s International for many years, as well as the Worcester County Farm Bureau.
Charles loved to hunt and was an avid reader of the Bible. He loved playing “Rook”, listening to music, and wildlife of any kind. He also enjoyed spending time with his great-granddaughters who would always brighten his day.
He is survived by his children, Carroll Lee Overholt and wife Valerie, Debbie Sue Keitt and husband Jim, all of Pocomoke City, and Lissa Joy Holbrook and husband Junie, of Rising Sun; grandchildren, Charles Michael Overholt, Victoria Greenley and husband Tyler, Amy Denise Keitt, Jennifer Harsin and husband Phil, and Melanie Aydelotte and husband Keith; great-granddaughters, Ryleigh Grace Harsin and Tatum Elizabeth Harsin; a brother, John Overholt, of Fredericktown, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two sons, Charles Howard Overholt and James Earl Overholt; and three brothers, Clarence, Ralph, and Bill Overholt.
Funeral services will be held at Goodwill Baptist Church in Pocomoke on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 2 PM where a viewing will be one hour prior. The Rev. Mike Fillis will officiate. Interment will be private in Quinton Methodist Cemetery.
