Geraldine M. Knight
Dec 30, 2016
Geraldine (Gerry) Knight, 73, died peacefully on December 25, 2016 in Hospice at Stella Maris. Gerry was born to Bridie and Joe Bannigan in Belfast Ireland in 1943. At 18 years of age, Gerry immigrated to the United States and eventually moved to Dundalk, MD. She proudly obtained her U.S. citizenship in the 70’s.
Gerry was a stay-at-home Mom to her son Kenneth and two step-children, Martin and Debbie. She enjoyed meeting, helping and visiting other Irish immigrants and friends and managed to keep her Irish accent as rich as her first day in the U.S. Her hobbies included making jewelry, interior decorating, traveling, and of course, a wee cup of tea.
The family wishes to thank those that gave her care and especially the workers at Stella Maris and St. Luke’s Place in Edgemere where she resided for the last few years. Most of all, Gerry wished to thank her niece, Terri Sobus for all her work in making life so much easier for her.
Gerry is survived by Kenneth, Marty and Debbie, as well as her sister, Bernadette O’Hara, living in Vancouver. She also leaves behind many loving friends and relatives.
The family is celebrating Gerry’s life at a memorial gathering at 2 p.m. on January 14th, at St. Luke’s Church, 7517 North Point Road, Edgemere, MD 21219. All are welcome to come for remembrance and a few remarks on a remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated at Catholic Charities Senior Community, 2825 Lodge Farm Road, Edgemere, MD 21219.
